ALEXANDER McQUEEN
(17 March 1969 – 11 February 2010)
Alexander McQueen was a British fashion designer and couturier best known for his in-depth knowledge of bespoke British tailoring. He was an icon in Britain and also in America. He took his own life, a week after his mother died by hanging himself. He is my inspiration, and one of my heros for paving the way for creative clothing, and people out of the "Norm". By the end of 2007, Alexander McQueen had boutiques in London, New York, Los Angeles, Milan and Las Vegas. Celebrity patrons, including Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker and Rihanna, have frequently been spotted wearing Alexander McQueen clothing to events. Björk and Lady Gaga have often incorporated Alexander McQueen pieces in their music videos.
RACHEL ROY
Rachel Roy is an American fashion designer, and philanthropist who was born and raised in California. Rachel attended Washington Adventist University , where she majored in liberal arts. After graduation, she moved to New York to continue her work in retail, as well as work as a stylist. It was at this point Rachel collaborated with the founders of Rocawear, which led to an internship with the then fledgling label. She launched her eponymous Rachel Roy line in Spring 2005. Michelle Obama, Diane Sawyer, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Garner, Iman, Lucy Liu, Sharon Stone and Penelope Cruz among others have worn Rachel Roy at Hollywood's most prestigious events. In both 2007 and 2008, just shortly after the launch of her line, Rachel was invited to appear as a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, a milestone in a still young career. Also in 2007, Roy was inducted into the CFDA as a new member where she stands alongside other esteemed fashion industry individuals. Rachel Roy is sold in several upscale department stores including Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus. In August 2009, Rachel Roy launched her diffusion line, RACHEL Rachel Roy, which is sold exclusively at Macy’s.
